Dear Gurudeva,
I remember the time we first met. I had heard of you before but never put much thought into it. One glorious day, you were at ISV, doing kirtan and giving me your merciful glances when I was dancing. Afterward you pulled me over and whispered divine words to me “I have never seen anyone dance like that before. You are a special soul.” Later that day I decided you would be my savior from this material world.
O Gurudeva, you lead by example. I was not chanting before I met you and one day, I saw you chanting. You inspired me that day to always chant and you are the reason I’m here today. In the Nectar of Instruction, Rupa Goswami says, “vacho vegam manesa krodha vegam jiva vegam udara pasta vegam, ethan vegan yo visaheta dhiraha, sarvam upimam kritivim sa shishya.” “A sober person who can tolerate the urge to speak the minds demands the action of anger and the urges of the tongue belly and genitals is qualified to make disciples of all over the world.” Gurudeva, you teach everyone to do what is right and disregard what is wrong. I can’t imagine my life without you, and I’m forever indebted to you.
